Model-Photoshoot

Monday evening tried my hand on my brother-in-law studio lighting.

The model is Ika (on the left). I shot few pictures with my trusty canon 350d, using a Sigma 17-70mm lens. There are 3 lights in this studio. I triggered the main light with a phottix pt-04 wireless trigger, while the other two was set to optical slave. So they will fire once the main light was triggered.

It was my first time playing with the lights. So the output is not up to par with the real pros. Need to practise more. I plan to change the background. Need to buy the seamless paper for that.

Dlink DNS-323, Cheap NAS solution

Bought a Dlink DNS-323 NAS Box to help my bro in law upgrade their storage capacity. Also bought a 1TB hard disk. All of this cost about RM830. Bought the items from pcdepot. The NAS box also comes with a usb print server. The size is small, about the size of a toaster.

You can read the review at SmallNetbuilder.

The NAS was easy to setup.
  1. Plug in the hard disk
  2. Plug in the network cable to the router.
  3. Power on.
  4. Use the CD to search for the nas
  5. Login and choose the disk and start to format.
  6. After the format finished, create folder, users and groups
  7. Plug in the Epson 1290 printer.
  8. Check the status, printer detected. (easy and this thing runs on linux)
Now all the 4 x Apple Imac, 1 x powerbook, 3 x windows machines can use the 1TB of storage.

Using windows machines to connect is easy, and to use the shared printer is also easy. But for MACOS to see the printer, need a few steps. Luckily we got uncle google. (hehe) I may wrote the steps needed for MACOS machines to use the shared printer.

Reflection on mirror

Just a reflection on a glass door of my bro-in-law office. I like it. Using my newly aquired toy. A sigma 17-70mm lens. Most of the Bukit Gantang photos below are taken with this lens.
